Antarctica - Changes in the Ice Shelf
Studying historical and current changes in the ice shelf can help scientists make better predictions about the ramifications of those changes. I love the background map of the Ross Ice Shelf--it helps to put the enormity of its size into perspective. I tend to think about Antarctica as 'that white spot on the bottom.' I find it interesting to think about the change in language choice that reporters use as they discuss environmental issues that have some connection to global warming. There seems to be a sense of walking on eggshells to me. NY Times article
