Antarctica - Changes in the Ice Shelf
Studying historical and current changes in the ice shelf can help scientists make better predictions about the ramifications of those changes.
I love the background map of the Ross Ice Shelf--it helps to put the enormity of its size into perspective. I tend to think about Antarctica as 'that white spot on the bottom.'
I find it interesting to think about the change in language choice that reporters use as they discuss environmental issues that have some connection to global warming. There seems to be a sense of walking on eggshells to me.

I find this article interesting and informative due to evidence of changes in the arctic being made apparent. The article shows the changes that can be in the environment and gives readers the chance to infer what events could have caused the change whether that be global warming, natural causes, or etc. I like the way the scientists view change of the landscape on the format showed in the article because it makes readers see the way that the environment in the arctic looks and how it could differ from our own mental images of it.
ReplyDeleteI feel that the way the information is presented on the article really pulls readers in and allows the message to get through. I do think its hard to imagine how an issue happening so far away can effect us and i think its important to have articles like this where it really puts the information into nice and easy words.
