New Research Links Air Pollution to Higher Corona Virus Death Rates
According to a new nationwide study Corona Virus patients in areas that have high levels of air pollution are more likely to die from the virus than other patients in less polluted areas of the country. The nation wide study revealed a large overlap between Covid-19 deaths and other diseases associated with the long-term effects of air pollution. Researchers have suggested that long-term exposure to air pollution makes patients more vulnerable to Covid-19, and the symptoms of the virus more severe. The research found that if Manhattan had lowered its air pollution levels by one unit over the past 20 years they would have seen almost 250 fewer Covid-19 deaths. Researchers believe that this could have significant implications for public health and hospitals. Such as allocating resources like ventilators and respirators to the more severe patients. This is extremely important because relates to our current society and issues we are currently facing.
