England plans to put a ban on plastic straws, stirrers and cotton swabs by April of 2020. “These items are often used for just a few minutes but take hundreds of years to break down, ending up in our seas and oceans and harming precious marine life,” says Michael Gove, Environmental Secretary. This is a monumental decision that could influence a movement around the world to make a small and simple change to, potentially, save the Earths pollution issue.

The podride is an electric, 4 wheeled bicycle that looks like a car. Although it may seem unpractical and a bit silly at first, when diving into the specs of the "car" it seemingly has no faults. It runs off of electricity and has a top speed of 25kmph. The maximum distance for a full charge is 60 kilometers, or roughly 37 miles. This may not be as revolutionary as a fully electric car, however it may spark interest in moving on with more electric vehicles that are not so expensive.

Two high school senior girls in Vancouver have recently discovered a process that helps break down plastic. This process begins with solvent that dissolves the plastic, and then what is left over can be consumed by their newly developed bacteria. This bacteria was made to specifically eat phthalate, a material found in plastic that is hard to break down. Over in Japan at Kyoto University, they found a completely new bacteria species that eats plastics. There are also current studies on how meal worms can eat Styrofoam and plastic.  I believe that this could be a extremely beneficial discovery to the world. Marine Invaders: Japanese Tsunami Brought 300 Species to US Shores

Scientists says that they counted nearly 300 species from Japan washed up on the shore lines from Hawaii to Alaska. This is the first time in history that coastal species have came up along the US shores. Hurricanes and Typhoons can bring loads of debris with them into the ocean, causing marine debris to keep coming up throughout the years. Researchers are worried that marine debris could result in invasive species cause disrupt in local ecosystems. I think that if invasive species were going to be a problem in ecosystems then scientists would have realized it by now during the past 6 years that have past, and I am sure that the scientists can capture all of the species in the ocean so how are they supposed to know or see if an ecosystem is getting invaded. Breitbart has ties to the far right movement so they are gonna have a more conservative view. They also site a medical journal that has taken stances on certain medical procedures. The article does have a good point on how most people focus on climate change as our "most important" climate problem. Even though pollution is also an extremely bad issue.
