Orange Skies above above California

 California's has lost 2.5 million acres of land due to wildfires. The warming weather, due to climate change, has made these fires last longer and happen more frequently. Northern California's strong gusts of wind made fires even worse. Forcing many evacuations. The winds carried the smoke and ash 150 miles away to San Francisco Bay Area. There are many toxic particles included in what the wind was carrying. If someone were to breathe it in it would make their lungs weakened which makes them more susceptible to COVID-19. Those particles are what made the sky orange. This is definitely a major sign that something is wrong with our planet. If people think an orange sky is normal and healthy, there is something wrong. The sharp increase in wildfires over the years just make it more alarming because wildfire cause a lot of issues, and many other issues could cause those wildfires. We need to care of our planets so less people are in danger.

    I agree with the connection you made with the article to the overlying problem with the planet. I believe our main focus right now, as a species, should be making every effort to reverse the environmental damage we've all caused. I know there are a lot of other issues in the world at this time, but none of it will matter if the planet is destroyed. The example of the toxic wildfires goes to show that we really are running out of time; plenty of irreversible harm has already been caused.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
