COVID-19 Vaccines

     There are more than 150 coronavirus vaccines up for development around the world. The U.S. government's Operation Warp Speed initiative wants to produce an effective coronavirus vaccines by January 2021. The World Health Organization is coordinating global efforts to develop a vaccine. Vaccines usually take 10 to 15 years to go into the market. Vaccines go through a three-stage clinical trial process before they are sent for approval. Then there is the issue of who will get the vaccine first.  


    To be honest, this is all very surreal knowing that there will be a vaccine no matter what. Even if it will take a few more years to get this vaccine safe for the market, it still will happen. There are a lot of questions with this new vaccines. For example, will it be 100% safe? Especially with having this vaccine rushed to be done, will it be sage for the average person.

    I agree with you saying it is all very surreal. The whole pandemic was so unexpected and it makes you wonder if there was anything we could have done or should be doing now to prepare for what is to come. Hopefully a safe and trustworthy vaccine comes sooner than later.

    I agree with what Sara and Olivia both said, I think that the way we've been living is surreal. I also think that the next question comes with what Sara said, who will get it first? And out of those people, who will actually choose to get the vaccine? Will it be mandatory to get the vaccine? Will there be consequences if you don't, like a fine? Also, it's crazy to think about, but what about our kids? Will the COVID-19 vaccine be like a flu shot to our kids? In my opinion, I think yes. I think in 10 to 20 years COVID-19 will be something of the past. But I also think that our world will be different from when we were younger.

    I agree with you and the comments above, I think this is all a surreal situation that no one could have ever expected. There are so many questions regarding the vaccine like weather it will be safe or not, and it is scary to think how quickly they made it. Considering how you said it should take 10-15 years to make one.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
