How Industrial Agriculture Affects Our Water

 Industrial Agriculture creates major pollution, which can cause public health problems and have a bad impact on the environment. This is actually the leading cause of water pollution in the United States. This can have negative impacts on people, animals, and the environment. The pollution in the water comes from the contents in the fertilizers. For instance, Nitrogen fertilizer is used for farm fields in the Midwest, and will eventually travel into the gulf of Mexico, contaminating the water. It will create what is called the Dead zone. No fish or other organisms can survive in this area. I think this is a major problem and more should be done to control it. Especially since this is the leading cause of pollution in the US, it should be a wake up call to make a change.

    Since this has a huge impact on the water in the U.S. , I hope something is solved soon. With the help from the U.S finding out ways to fix the problem, it'll limit contaminated waste entering the Gulf of Mexico. This doesn't just affect the U.S. , it affects other countries as well.

    I agree with this because if we are making so many of these massive industrial buildings, it would make sense on why it is the leading cause in water pollution

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
