Airports Might Be Able to Power a City

 Airports are supposedly starting to use solar power to start powering their own airports. But what if the solar power can be linked with the cities that the airports are based out of? An airport in Australia is now capable of powering over 136,000 homes when their large scale rooftop solar systems are installed. If the airports could install more of these solar panels, it will generate 10 times more power than the 17,000 residential solar panels that the city has. This is a big thing for the environment in cities as well. With most of the power coming from solar panels, it will be offsetting 151.6 kilotons of green house gasses annually. It would also reduce the amount of nonrenewable fossil fuels that these large cities are using. All in all it would be a big benefit to get these solar panels installed to any major airports.

    Since airports already take up a lot of space, it is a good idea to but solar panels on their roofs. One of the biggest complaints about solar panels is the space they take up and that they are an "eye-sore". This idea would eliminate solar panels taking up more space. Also, the trees in the area have to be cleared out for the planes, so there would be nothing blocking the sunlight.

    I think it is a great idea. Like Izzy's comment said, airports are so big and take up so much space, so it would be a perfect area to put it. You would have so much room and it would be lowering greenhouse gas emissions for the environment which is great.

    I found this very interesting. I think that it is a great way for airports to start using solar energy to use for power. It helps keep our earth clean and is a lot more eco friendly for the environment. I wonder how long it will take for other airports to adopt these ideas?

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
