Venezuela's Last Glacier is About to Disappear

Geographer Carsten Braun found through multiple studies and visits to Humboldt Glacier that it had shrunk significantly to the point in which it doesn't have long until it is gone entirely. It was once considered to be one of five major tropical glaciers in Venezuela. Lack of funding, political attention, and scientific research has created this glacier into yet another example of the effects of global warming and climate change.

This article is upsetting and demonstrates just how much needs to change in regards to prioritizing the environment. The Earth is continuously experiencing damages to some of its most beautiful aspects and if nothing changes, we can expect to feel the negative affects. It is hard having a President that doesn't believe in helping/prioritizing the environment and climate change.

    This article is upsetting especially because there are ways this could've been prevented. Its sad that such a significant glacier is now almost gone.

    Tropical glaciers, huh? How cool! It's sad that it's almost gone because of global warming not being handled well.

    What a shame! It is very disheartening that our government does not consider the well-being of our environment as much as it should. Soon we will be in an extremely deplorable situation if we keeping heading in this direction.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
