Drive Less

Driving has created a significant change in our environment due to the extreme amount of carbon dioxide being released.  However, we cannot completely eliminate driving as a whole especially since most people don't live in walking or biking distance.  Some things that were stated in the article was having the ability to carpool or use public transportation.  We don't exactly have the ability to use public transportation, but offering rides can make a difference.

  1. The way driving is hurting the Earth is a very important topic that most people do not think about. Since it is such a common thing to do, it barely crosses peoples minds on how it has negatives. I agree that carpooling would be one of the most effective ways of decreasing the amount of carbon dioxide being released. It would also help if more towns offered more ways of public transportation.

  2. I feel a lot of people do over look this issue as driving is viewed as a step forward, even though it is taking our Earth backwards and harming our environment. As Gabbi above had stated, driving is something people do everyday and it would be strange to not drive to get places and those who do not drive a car appear almost primitive. Finding other ways to travel without doing harm is not as hard as it may seem, but there are downsides to traveling by bike or foot as well and not being able to use a car is inconvenient for many. I do agree that there needs to be more eco-friendly modes of transportation that are just as efficient as a carbon-emitting car.

  3. I think if we give the opportunity for people to see what driving is doing to the environment they can help make a change by not driving to places that they can walk or carpooling with other people to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide being released. Many people don't realize how much driving damages the environmental and the harmful gas it is releasing into the air we breathe.

  4. As Alexa stated in her response, though--we don't have public transportation out here. I wonder about the cost of a public transportation system versus it's use by citizens.
