Could This Slimy Corn 'Fix' One of Earth's Biggest Pollution Problems?

https://www.livescience.com/63435-what-is-nitrogen-fixation.html

Scientists have discovered a strain of corn in Oaxaca, Mexico that can take in nitrogen directly from the air. Considering all  living things need nitrogen as a vital nutrient this could reduce the amount of nitrogen pollution. I think this is a very interesting find not only because of how this corn could help with pollution, but also because it has only been discovered now.

  1. How can corn physically absorb nitrogen? I never thought anything like this is possible.
