The United States vs. Climate Change

With the continuing change of climate, some of the world's biggest countries are at risk. Among the top countries for losses due to climate change are the U.S., Saudi Arabia and India. Researchers have finally found a formula to calculate the amount of damage carbon emissions are doing to our climate. Scientists say one of the biggest problem's they're facing in these calculations are the countries that are unaware of the change carbon dioxide is causing to ecosystems and the environment.

    Add your reaction/discussion about implications of this finding: considering how high America's footprint is, I am not surprised that we are at a great risk.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
