Brazilian Sugarcane Reduce Global Emissions

This article describes how Brazilian sugarcane could potentially replace 13.7% of the world's crude oil consumption and reduce global emissions. This could be made possible by reducing the emissions from combustion of fossil fuels. The production of fuel ethanol from sugarcane for use instead of the burning of fossil fuels. I think this is productive article because it is looking to help the environment and giving possible replacements for the burning of fossil fuels.

  1. I believe it is always interesting to read an article about how we can innovate different things to create an alternate fuel. It would be cool to see how this compares to other alternate fuels. All together the article was an interesting read and opened my thoughts to the topic presented.

  4. Great articular! strangely enough we can use more then just gas to use as fuel(sarcasm), if only more people thought that way.

  5. I think that this is great, however I feel that while the advancement in the fuel department is great, the technology in the engine department is not. I'd be more worried about peoples vehicles becoming damaged as a result from ethanol. I've heard numerous people explain how ethanol is good, since it reduces consumption of fossil fuels, but when you run it in a car that wasn't designed for it, it can cause premature wear on several of the fuel components.

  6. Having renewable resources instead of fossil fuels is a great thing and I agree with you. However I feel that companies will still stick with non renewable energy because its faster than sugarcane.

  7. If sugarcane were to replace burning fossil fuels does it still create any pollution?

  8. Used Fry oil made from soy or canola can also be used as a safe alternative to diesel fuel, and better yet its cheap. Restaurants go through the stuff faster than we could fill our cars with it.
