Yesterday at 4.47pm an earthquake with 4.1 magnitude hit 6 miles from Dover, Delaware and it was 5 miles deep. Not much damage was caused, but you could feel the shaking from the nation’s capital and in Virginia suburbs. The Geophysicist Dale Grant of the USGS said that to have an earthquake in Delaware is “exceptionally rare.” But closer to the epicenter, the earthquake was worse. But even with that there was no known cause for the earthquake.

That's pretty interesting to see how more earthquakes seem to be occurring on the east coast, which can you make you question how many more may occur in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThis was an interesting article to read. I agree it is very interesting how more earthquakes are occurring on the east coast than usual. Maybe this will encourage us to seek more options in making buildings more resistant to the affects of the earthquakes.
ReplyDeleteAs Julia touched up on, If there are more earthquakes occurring on the East Coast do you think buildings will be built different?
DeleteSo with this article poses the question will we have more earthquakes now on the East Coast. The West Coast will still have more earthquakes in general.
ReplyDeleteMy question is, what is causing more earthquakes on the East Coast?
ReplyDeleteIt is very surprising to hear about an earthquake along the east coast, but how will they discover the reason why this happened in such an unusual place for an earthquake to occur?
ReplyDeleteI think this was interesting seeing a lot of earthquakes on the east coast as a lot of people said, we don't normally go through a lot of earthquakes we just must be close to a tectonic plate that has been moving a lot. hopefully another earthquake doesn't hit or we don't get a terrible one.
