December Article- Most blue whales are ‘righties,’ except for this one move



In this article scientists have been studying the way that blue whales move and rotate when hunting for food and retrieving their food. Scientists have never seen a marine animal ever favor one side over the other like humans favor their right or left hand as their dominate. Blue whales showed that when hunting for their food they role 180 degrees to the right except for when they are along the surface they roll to the left. Scientists believe that they roll to their left when near the surface to see more clearly with their dominate right eye. Interesting to see that blue whale dominate a side to use like humans do.

    Blue Whales!! Whales are so cute. What do you mean that they rotate? Like flip over? Oh I just read more of the article you do mean flip over.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
