Hawaiian island vanishes overnight

An island in Hawaii has been wiped completely off of the map.  East island which is a island in Hawaii was washed completely away from a hurricane named Walaka.  This island mostly held wildlife and no human lived on it, most of the wildlife had left the island before the hurricane struck.  I believe that this article can show what a hurricane can do and the effects of the hurricane.  This is cool because it is interesting how a hurricane could do all of this damage.

    That is so freaky, thankfully the animals left and there was no human civilization on the island. These hurricanes keep on coming stronger and stronger. I'm scared on what the next one will be like.

    It is crazy to think an island is a part of this world one second and the next it is gone like it never existed. Luckily we can now see when storms like this are coming towards us and try and protect things like the animals.

    This is crazy that a whole habitat can just disappear. Luckily all the animals are okay and got to safety.

    That is kinda scary how much damage a hurricane can do. It's great that the animals that were living there were able to get away soon enough, though.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
