"Warmest January Ever Puts 2020 on Track to Be One of The Top 10 Hottest Years"

February of 2020 is on record to be in the top 10 warmest winters ever and have approximately a 50% chance of being the warmest, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The global temperatures were 2.05 degrees Fahrenheit above the average for the month of February, which is slightly higher than the record holding winter of 2016. Climatologist Karin Gleason believes there is a 49% chance this is the warmest winter ever, and a 98% chance that this winter will rank among the top five.

I think this is slightly alarming as it is just showing that our world is getting warmer and warmer as we keep going and the fact that this is racing to be the warmest winter in 141 years is surprising to me. It is something we can see and feel with the lack of snow and sun shining on us, but it is not something that we like to think of the reasoning behind; instead we are just happy it's warm and sunny so soon. In a whole, we need to make drastic improvements or we will not experience any winter and our temperatures will continue to rise.

  1. I strongly agree with you. Even though I don't like winter, it is extremely alarming that there wasn't any snow and some days felt like early spring. This is not an impact that we as a society don't see. We can clearly tell that the winter months are feeling more like April. The fact that we can clearly see this difference is concerning, and something needs to be done about it.

  2. It is scary that the climate keeps changing so much. I agree with you that we need to make improvements and figure something out to prevent climate change from becoming worse. It feels like we skipped winter this year. Everybody is experiencing how the planet is changing, but some people will deny it and that makes it harder to find solutions. Something needs to be done soon.

  3. It is extremely scary but also true that the winter will be one of our warmest yet. Humanity as a whole needs to make changes to decrease the temperature levels from rising further. If we do not, our existence could change fundamentally, we could lose the arctic and all the animals in it, and we could also have increased levels of fire, drought, and animal death due to climate change.

  4. It is definitely alarming to see the impact that global warming is having on the environment and out global temperature. It is even more alarming to know that there are people who still don't believe global warming is a thing. This evidence proves that we are being directly impacted by the effects of global warming.

  5. I think this is concerning that the season of winter will be one of the warmest times yet and the temperature keeps on changing drastically. I agree that we need to understand the impact that global warming is having on our climate and that we need to make changes to stop this from occurring and causing negative consequences. Even though some people deny that global warming is a thing we still need to inform people about the changes that everyone is experiencing that winter is feeling like spring and how much of an impact it has on the environment.
