Australia’s horrific fires may permanently change the country’s landscape

The fires in Australia are finally beginning to be contained after more than 11 million hectares of land were destroyed.  Animals are finally starting to return to there habitats and greenery is starting to grow back but it is said that the fires may have permanently changed the country's landscape. 

I find this very crazy.  While Australia is used to having fires, no fire has ever been seen of this magnitude.  It has destroyed much of the land there and multiple species are either close to extinction or have gone extinct due to this tragedy.

    I wonder what the mentions of the wild fire are producing that could change the atmosphere. Also i feel for the animals that cant escape the fire and how some species may become extinct.

    In what way did they then contain the fires? Since these fires were burning for months though, as sad as it is I am not surprised that this much damage was done, but it is a good thing that everything is starting to go back to normal.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
