Cost of Coal

The exorbitant cost to quit coal outright is exemplary of why the world is not already converted to clean energy. It was announced that it would cost Germany approximately 44.5 billion dollars to quit coal use in the next 18 years. So despite near unanimous agreement that coal is a leading cause of climate change people still do not act because of how expensive alternative forms of power are in comparison to completely converting from coal. By avoiding the truth of greenhouse gas emissions businesses continue to control the fate of the planet and discourage people to try to shift power over the environment to scientists. Continued support of companies that choose to save money over improving the eco efficiency of their company perpetuates the issues created by climate change and discourages action against it.
