The GM chickens that lay eggs with anti-cancer drugs

Researchers have genetically modified chickens to lay eggs that contain health promoting drugs that can help arthritis and cancer. The drugs are said to be 100 times cheaper to produce when they are laid than when they are produced in a factory. These researchers hope that they can produce the drugs in commercial quantities. The chickens aren't harmed and they just think that they are laying normal eggs. It only takes three eggs to produce enough dosage of the drug and chickens lay about 300 per year. The researchers hope that they can use the chicken drug to promote animal health too.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
