Although the numbers are unknown, the Tsunami that hit Japan six years ago has brought new marine life across the Pacific Ocean.  Most of the marine life floated over on the debris, plastic or fiber glass, which we of humans have a lot of. So we caused the shift in marine life just as much as the natural disaster.

    People need to stop being so careless and realize we are causing so many issues. There is no need to be putting trash in the ocean. Since some of it did get into the ocean during the storm and there really wasn't a way to stop it, there are still many other times when it can be prevented. Where do people honestly think the trash will go? It is not going to break down in the ocean.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
