Indonesian Volcano

      Mount Agung volcano on the island of Bali has been having small eruptions over the past two months as its residents are being forced to relocate. Larger eruptions are feared and predicted  yet to come for the Indonesian island. Eruptions are hard to predict when they are coming so the Bali government is forcing nearly 100,000 residents to move out of the threatened areas. The Northeastern Bali area is mainly affected when Agung erupts, covering the land with lava, ash, and mudflows. As the lava flows across the island, gases released from the lava can cause a number of respiratory problems for Bali's citizens.

    These eruptions must be difficult for residents who must evacuate. I would imagine it is hard on the families to have to move from home due to something like this. However, considering Bali falls in the ring of fire, these eruptions shouldn't be too surprising.

    Having to go through this must be hard, having to move out because of a volcano erupting and multiple times too! Also hopefully the people of Bali get help with the respiratory problems.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
