Antarctica's Penguins May Need to Move South

Because of climate change and global warming, the penguins in Antarctica may be forced to find a new home or learn to adapt to new climates by the end of the century. Because of the carbon emission levels, according to a study in Nature Climate Change, about 70% of the penguins will have to relocate. This is a huge problem because King Penguins can only breed on predator-free islands and ice, but these islands need to be within swimming distance from a food supply. Climate change could effect these penguins in many different ways because of this.

    I also did my article on penguins too but it was a little different. In my article it was talking about the change in diet and how we could tell from there tissue. Hopefully with this information we are to keep the penguins at there home longer and not have to move them south.

    I also wrote about the king penguins and I hope there is a way to fix this even though they don't impact us, if we keep allowing this to happen the more animals this happens to the more likely it will.

    Recent studies seem to suggest that a lot of the forest fires happening in the US could lead to a cooling affect. This could possibly save the penguins.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
