Disney Fake Lemming Deaths for Nature Documentary

https://www.snopes.com/disney/films/lemmings.aspWithin the Disney documentary "White Wilderness", a documentary made in 1958 that won an Academy award, you see Lemmings leaping off a cliff into the sea below and drowning, resulting in a mass suicide. However, This is not a behavior that lemmings do. During the filming of "White Wilderness", the portion of the film dedicated to the lemmings was staged since they were unable to capture the real live behaviors on film. This resulted in them filming the movie in the Canadian Provence of Alberta, a Provence that is completely land locked with no outlet to the sea. Alberta is not a natural habitat for lemmings, so they shipped in lemmings that were caught in other provinces and herded them over a cliff into the Bow River, not the ocean. Lemmings only drown by accident when they search for new resources, and since they are in unfamiliar territory, they often fall off cliffs or sometimes drown in water as they swim.

  1. What else do film makers fake in these nature documentaries? Why did Disney make a documentary, they have no credibility in that field.

  2. I completely agree with Kallie, and i had the same thought when I read this! I think it's different that Disney did this documentary, but they didn't do it the right way. They shouldn't have faked it let alone let all the lemmings die.
