NY Times article


I think it is a little strange because they said we should expect heavier rainstorms and we have been experiencing heavier rain lately. They said heat waves would rise and I don't think it has been to hot lately, I think it has been more cold than hot. They are writing an article on climate change and they change to treatment of family's with sickness. Continuously the scientist keep giving of more things to predict. They say we have a good chance causing a sixth mass extinction with plants and animals.

Two high school senior girls in Vancouver have recently discovered a process that helps break down plastic. This process begins with solvent that dissolves the plastic, and then what is left over can be consumed by their newly developed bacteria. This bacteria was made to specifically eat phthalate, a material found in plastic that is hard to break down. Over in Japan at Kyoto University, they found a completely new bacteria species that eats plastics. There are also current studies on how meal worms can eat Styrofoam and plastic.  I believe that this could be a extremely beneficial discovery to the world. Marine Invaders: Japanese Tsunami Brought 300 Species to US Shores

Scientists says that they counted nearly 300 species from Japan washed up on the shore lines from Hawaii to Alaska. This is the first time in history that coastal species have came up along the US shores. Hurricanes and Typhoons can bring loads of debris with them into the ocean, causing marine debris to keep coming up throughout the years. Researchers are worried that marine debris could result in invasive species cause disrupt in local ecosystems. I think that if invasive species were going to be a problem in ecosystems then scientists would have realized it by now during the past 6 years that have past, and I am sure that the scientists can capture all of the species in the ocean so how are they supposed to know or see if an ecosystem is getting invaded. Breitbart has ties to the far right movement so they are gonna have a more conservative view. They also site a medical journal that has taken stances on certain medical procedures. The article does have a good point on how most people focus on climate change as our "most important" climate problem. Even though pollution is also an extremely bad issue.
