Re-Building the Coral Reefs



This video is very informative and creates a conversation about the state and condition of our reefs and what people are doing to help. The tactic of using smaller coral plants to re-build the coral reefs is a great idea due the damage that was impacted to the reefs.

    I think this video was very neat because it explained how people are trying to rebuild the coral reefs. I think it is wonderful that people are trying to rebuild the reefs after they were damaged by us. I think that it is very important that they are re-building them because if people would not, they would be gone forever.

    I think that you choose a very important video to watch and do your current event about. The health of our ocean's coral reefs is obviously being impacted by human emissions, and the process of trying to rebuild and regrow them is very important to both humans and to the life of the rest of our sea life.

    I think this video was a great choice, much of our coral reefs have died and it is good to see that people have means to help build and renew the reefs. They're very important to many fish and sea creatures and the fact that they're thinking tactically in order to prevent the reefs from being destroyed again is really helpful.

Acid Zone in Chesapeake Bay Found

     According to the University of Delaware, the Chesapeake Bay is becoming acidic as it has gone to 7.4 pH from an average of 8.2. The oxidation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may be the factor that is leading to the higher acidity levels in coastal oceans, but it can eventually lead to more of open oceans. Naturally the waters of the Chesapeake Bay have a regulatory system that holds back the increase of acidity levels in the area, and this works as the dissolving of living shells, non-living aragonite, and calcite minerals.
