Lacking Safe Drinking Water

More than two billion people, of the 7.6 billion people inhabiting Earth, lack clean and fresh drinking water at their homes. The main reasons for this occurrence is population growth, climate change, and the need for water in agriculture. In the future, this problem is not expected to be solved. Rather, the number of people without safe drinking water is expected to grow. I believe this problem will potentially never be solved because of the risks it presents. If everyone in the world receives clean drinking water, then there most likely will not be enough water for agriculture. This presents a problem because agriculture has a major role in today’s societies by stimulating the economy through markets and providing the world with its most important food source. I find it interesting that either way we go about this problem, there are costly consequences.

  1. I think it's really unfortunate that we can't effectively help other people in need and give them basic necessities. This is definitely a problem that, in my opinion, probably won't ever be fixed due to human nature.

  2. Do you think that in the future, all people and agriculture can both receive just the necessity of water to survive?

    1. My guess is that it would be possible, but many people who are privileged to have availability of potable water would have to decrease their use.

  3. With the increase of population and climate change, it is unfortunate we are unable to help give people safe water for them to drink. Hopefully in the future, we are able to overcome this and find a solution to the problem.

  4. Not only is population growth and climate change a problem, but the amount of pollution. Clean water is affected everywhere due to the amount of pollution on the planet. I agree that the problem will never get fixed.

  5. It is a sad topic to think about because this problem will never go away. It is also sad because people can get sick from drinking unsafe water.
