I feel it is important for everyone to be knowledgeable in the current state of our planet and be aware of the things that could possibly and most likely will at some point in time happen.  The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) is be to launched next year.  This test is to be the most impactful space mission to date.  The test is to see if we have the technology to redirect asteroids away from our planet in the event that there is an asteroid of space debris on it's course towards Earth.  If approved, it will begin with the launch of the mission Hera.  Hera will investigate the aftermath of the DART and report information and results back to NASA.  I feel like this will have a positive affect but only if it works if not we would be unable to save our planet from external objects and extremities.  I think if it for some reason doesn't work this time it will eventually be feasible.

  1. Rocks are one of the greatest ways to identify how life is on any planet. If there is a way to prevent these rocks from destroying parts of the Earth while also giving us the ability to analyze them, that would be really cool. If rocks and other materials from space aren't studied, it'll be more difficult to discover life outside of our home planet.

  2. The DART program is extremely important because we will be able to redirect asteroids to ensure that life continues. If a asteroid hits earth it could kill off all humans just like the dinosaurs. If it doesn't kill all of the humans it will be difficult for us to rebuild all that we lost. Losing one or many land regions would be a major problem not only for humans but all the animals that used to live there.
