This website suggests an interesting theory of how our planet gained it magnetic field. Scientists now believe that the circulation of the heated liquid iron was the cause for why the Earth first formed a magnetic field. Scientists now believe that the Earth's heat was losing its ability to hold its magnetic field. Once Earth started to lose its magnetic field the core began to crystallize which helped continue its polarity through geodynamo.

  1. I don't know much about this topic but it is interesting reading about different aspects and developments in research that affect our Earth. If scientists are in fact correct in their theories, then this seems like it could have lasting effects in the way our Earth continues to change and develop.
