A team of scientists have discovered what they believe to be the world's largest bee called Wallace's giant bee. The bee is known as the Megachile pluto has a wingspan larger than six centimeters. Even though the bee has this massive size, it has been lost since 1981. The team of scientists went out to search for the bee and photograph it. They were able to find it in North Moluccas which is an island group in Indonesia. This species of bee is very rare. A member of the team Honorary Professor Simon Robson stated, "Amid such a well-documented global decline in insect diversity it’s wonderful to discover that this iconic species is still hanging on.”
