This city bans cars every Sunday—and people love it

In Bogota, Colombia every Sunday the city gives up cars. The event starts at 7 in the morning to 2:30 in the afternoon. Main streets and shut down for the event and is welcome to any ways of transportation other than motor-driven.

I think this is an awesome idea, but something that could never happen in America. Its a great way to get people healthier, environmental friendly, and social all at the same time. It would be cool if this could happen but with America's society its unlikely to every happen.

  1. This is a cool idea but yes it would never happen in heavy populated parts of North America.

  2. This is a really cool idea in order to save on gas emissions that are released. I think if we started small in small cities in America we may be able to get rid of a small chunk of the emissions.

  3. Yup, this could never happen in American cities. Maybe smaller towns, but thats it. Also, if people live out in the sticks and need to go somewhere, they're probably going to use their cars.

  5. This is a great idea! I could see it expanding to smaller European cities, but I agree, this could not happen to the US in the near future. The closest we would get would be heavily advertising public transportation.
