The first artificial material that follows sunlight may upgrade solar panels

There is a new technology that has been developed that is called SunBOTs that capture sunlight to be used for energy just like solar panels. The difference is that these small electronics that have a stem like base rotate and bend on their own to capture the maximum amount of sunlight. SunBOTs capture about 90% of all sunlight provided maximizing electricity use while solar panels only capture about 24% of available sunlight. I think that this is a great invention and will greatly help capture electricity and minimize other sources of electricity production that is needed. It is important to have innovations in electronics such as this, because it cuts down on air pollution and destruction of the environment that may be used in other forms of creating electricity.

  1. This is a great innovation that can help us be more environmentally friendly. I hope many people use these, but the price of innovations like this can be expensive, so I hope that we can start cutting down on the prices in order to make these inventions more affordable for everyone.

  2. This discovery should help industrialize solar power and help reduce carbon emissions. Hopefully this is mass produced around the world!

  3. This is a really cool invention, by lowering the cost to create these they could make them more readily available which would increase the actual positive impact on the environment. Another thing to keep in mind is how the SunBOT is made an if it is made with environmentally friendly products.

  4. This is a great invention! SunBots could take the place of solar panels if they work as well as stated. With it catching 90% of all available sunlight, compared to 24% that solar panels capture that is a big difference. This could really cause competition for solar panel companies if they are in the same price range and work this well.
