Worldwide Winds Increase

Since the year 2010, wind levels have been increasing. The average for global wind speeds has grown from 7 mph to 7.4 mph. This means that the potential wind energy rates for wind turbines has increased by about 17%! This is good news for wind power companies but has mainly negative origins. This increase of wind speeds is credited to global warming as well as natural climate cycles. The bigger difference in temperatures between different areas are causing bigger winds and climate cycles are shifting faster and faster. If our global warming is not slowed, wind rates will continue to rise quickly over the years. Wind farms will continue to make tons of money off of this situation.

This situation does not necessarily scare me a ton, but if wind rates get out of hand, they could have very negative effects on us and our environment. Global warming is causing so many types of problems that I have almost accepted that we are doomed as a species lol. Unless we are able to stop global warming as a whole, things are only going to get worse and worse. On the bright side, it may be a good time to invest in wind farms. Increase in wind will also give us an easy renewable source of energy that is good for the environment.

  1. I agree with you Mr. Crist. Wind farms have many advantages to out environment in terms of global warming. First, wind farms don't produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain or greenhouse gases. Also wind energy does not pollute the air the power plants.

  2. It is very interesting how climate change is changing earth in so many ways. Most people just think of rising sea levels and warmer climates but there is actually a lot more going on.
