Black Friday Shopping Hurts the Environment but You Can Help

Article

The increase in shopping during this holiday season has various negative impacts on the environment. Online shopping was once thought of as more environmentally conscious, but due to new overnight and 2 day shipping options, it is no longer as efficient of a shipping system. Also, the waste from electronics, clothing, and packaging can be harmful to the environment. I believe that people must make efforts to be a bit more environmentally friendly while shopping by analyzing their buying consequences and adjusting them for the betterment of this planet.

  1. I agree the wastes and use of transportation is hurting our environment and its sad because online shopping is how the majority of families in the US get their products. This still wont stop me from wasting my money on things I don't need from amazon, but its good information to keep in the back of my mind.

  2. If the environment becomes increasingly harmed by holiday season shopping, possible solutions should be attempted. For example, taking public transportation to shopping centers should be advocated, and biodegradable packaging should be implemented.

  3. I don't think people really see this as a problem because they think it saves them time in the store, they aren't thinking about the long term outcome.

  5. This problem is just getting worse because people don't go out shopping as much anymore, they can just click a button and have what they want. I think people should open their eyes and see how harmful it really is.
