Deadly California Fires

Fires are currently ripping through parts of California.  The fires have turned deadly and thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and escape.  A new problem quickly formed.  With so many people leaving, cars began to pile up on the sides of the freeway causing a few miles to be traveled in a few hours.  Police began to urge people to abandon their cars and take their chances on foot.

This situation is extremely unfortunate and would be terrifying to be in.  The fires are most likely the result of how dry California has gotten in recent years.  If the drought in California continues to get worse, then the issue of forest fires will also increase.  If the population of California also continues to increase, then the evacuation issues the authorities are currently having will only get worse.

  1. These fires have been growing at a terrifying rate and California is in dire need of rain or snow. Even areas that the fire has not reached are feeling the effects of the raging flames. I personally have family that live in Lake Tahoe and the water level of the lake has gone down substantially. By this time of year they typically have already been getting lots of rain or even several inches of snow. Attention and aid needs to be put towards helping those affected. The situation is terrifying and very dangerous and unless the weather changes and rain finally comes, lasting damage will continue to increase.

  2. The wildfires in California must be really scary knowing that the place you call home could potentially be wiped away due to the fires. Hopefully there's a way that we can give back to them like providing shelter, food, and water for those leaving due to the wildfires.

  3. I agree, the fires are a very traumatizing experience. I am surprised police officers are telling people they have better chances on foot rather than in their cars. I would have never thought of having a better chance on foot in fires that big.

  4. California experiences some of the worst disasters in America. Police wanting for california residents to abandon their cars just shows how important it is.

  5. It is crazy how some states are just so different. People in California right now are abandoning their cars to get away from fires and we are in school. I couldn't imagine being in that kind of situation with my family.
