Millions in danger due to severe Caribbean droughts

The Caribbean region has been drying due to multiyear droughts.Millions in the Caribbean are facing food insecurity along with decreasing freshwater as droughts become more likely across the region. Growing crops is becoming difficult and so is finding freshwater sources because they are dwindling due to salt water intrusion from rising seas. Even though the Caribbean was struck by disastrous hurricanes that caused a lot of damage, the drought can slowly cause damage to vulnerable Caribbean countries.

  1. I was surprised to read that in such a tropical location, they can be going through a drought especially with all the water around them.

  2. I can't believe that they could have such a sever drought in such a tropical area. So sad to hear that they are having trouble growing crops and producing food as much and not having as much water.

  3. It hadn't occurred to me before that freshwater would be contaminated by rising seas. That shows that not only will places along the coast suffer from the rising sea level eventually damaging property, it can also decrease the amount of water and food available.

  4. I feel like this is going to start happening in a lot of tropical places. Even though it rains a lot, the humidity is crazy which could lead to droughts.
