Oil Drilling in Alaska

The article that I chose struck me as biased because a portion of it stuck out like a sore thumb. "Alaska could use the money. Listen to Alaskans, and you can feel their desperation—in their homes, offices, from commuters passing Anchorage’s rooftop ConocoPhillips sign, in radio reports on the $3 billion state deficit. Oil helped build the state. The oil industry employs a third of its workers." This quote tells me that the article is biased because when you are writing a paper or article that is supposed to be unbiased you leave your own opinion out of what you are writing. This affects the information presented by the author by pushing onto the reader the idea that drilling for oil in Alaska would be beneficial.

  1. I agree with your opinion on it being a biased article, saying how Alaska needs the money is being a bit biased on how other states are better off with money. You should not have your own opinion in an article unless it is a persuasive piece.

    1. And even in a persuasive piece, you better back up that opinion with evidence!

  2. I agree with some of the information you stated, but like they said persuasive information would be better.
